Player Scores: R9

Here we are with Round 9’s player scores!

Our Top 5 has a very yellow tint this week, with 3 Lightning players in the 5.

In her 150th game, Courtney Bruce was on fire, with 13 deflections, 8 gains, 1 intercept, 1 rebound, 1 pickup and 10 CPRs in her team’s big win over the Firebirds. This is her second top-scoring performance of the year.

Erin O’Brien places 2nd for the second week in a row, with another strong game out in GD with Kopua behind. She had 11 deflections, 2 intercepts, 5 gains, 2 rebounds, 4 CPR and a pickup.

Liz Watson also stays in her same position from Round 8, with a round-high 49 feeds, 27 goal assists, 20 CPR and 3 deflections.

Macy Gardner makes her second appearance in our Top 5 for the season, despite being in a losing team this week. She did all she could for her side, with 45 feeds, 19 goal assists, 27 CPR, 4 pickups, a gain and a deflection.

Finally, Cara Koenen makes her second appearance in the Top 5, with 54/54 goals at 100%, 5 feeds, 4 goal assists, 17 CPR, 2 pickups and 2 rebounds.

Some interesting player score stats for Round 9:

  • In her second SSN game, Casey Kopua is only getting better. This week she scored 122 points, with 6 gains, 4 rebounds, 3 deflections and a pickup.

  • Jordan Cransberg scored her highest points of the season this round, with 30 feeds, 27 goal assists, 2 deflections, an intercept and 20 second phase receives in her 60 minute performance for 216 points, placing her 7th in Round 9.

  • Imogen Allison also had her best game of the season, with 4 intercepts, 3 deflections and 7 CPRs in her 60 minutes for 191 points.

  • The Lightning had the highest team score by far this round, with 1,436.5 points (next highest were the Thunderbirds on 1,203.5). One player scored over 300 points, 2 scored over 200 points, and another 3 scored over 100 points each.

  • The Mavericks are really struggling to get volume to their shooters. In Round 9, they had only 43 attempts of regular shots and 50 total shot attempts, both of which were the lowest of all teams this week. With 67 contacts (next closest Vixens with 45), 19 general play turnovers (equal most with Firebirds), 5 bad passes (next highest Vixens with 3), and 4 bad passes (equal most with Firebirds), the Mavs are just giving away way too much ball to be competitive.

  • Klau, Housby, Turner and O’Shannassy were all down on their averages this week, as the Swifts struggled against the Fever. Nweke and Housby’s shooting accuracies were also down (80% and 63.2% respectively), as the Fever put pressure on all down the court.

  • Despite having fewer Net Points, Fantasy Points, general play goal attempts, intercepts, rebounds and pickups than the Thunderbirds, the Giants pulled off a win. The difference? The Giants had 7 more Super Shots - literally the only stat they outscored the Thunderbirds on.

  • Kiera Austin is really hot and cold this season. Her points per round have fluctuated from 52.5 to the 263 she scored last week, and back to 109 this week. Will that have an impact on her Diamonds selection?

I’ve developed a Google Sheets document that lists each player and their scores by round. This will be updated after each round.

The first tab is the Overall Leaderboard, and will be sorted by total points. The second tab will be sorted by the most recent round (i.e. whoever scored the most points in the most recent round will be at the top).
