Player Scores: R8

Here we are with Round 8’s player scores!

Kiera Austin got her groove back this week, placing in our top 5 for the first time in 2025. With 6 super shots, 33 feeds, 25 CPR, 2 rebounds and an intercept, she was absolutely on fire.

In the absence of Jodi-Ann Ward (and with the immense support and experience of Casey Kopua behind her), Erin O’Brien had a screamer to land in second spot. She had 8 deflections, 7 gains, 5 rebounds, 9 CPRs and a pickup.

Liz Watson also has her first appearance in the top 5 this year, with a huge 45 feeds, 26 goal assists, 22 CPR, a gain and a deflection.

Hannah Mundy makes her third appearance in the top 5 (and second round in a row) with 225 points. With 40 feeds, 21 goal assists, 23 CPR, a gain and a deflection, she had another solid hitout.

Rounding up our top 5 for Round 8 is Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard with 210 points. With 68 goals from 69 attempts, 3 goals assists, 4 feeds and a rebound, she was unstoppable.

Some interesting player score stats for Round 8:

  • All eyes were on the return of Casey Kopua to professional netball after 6 years when she pulled on the orange dress as an injury replacement player for the Giants. She had 2 gains, 3 deflections and a rebound for 79 points, but arguably her impact cannot be measured by stats - instead the support, confidence and experience she gave to her team mates was more important. Look at O’Brien - a career-best performance with Kopua as her partner.

  • ATN is so consistent - with another 203 points this week she remains on top of the player points leaderboard. She’s nearly 300 points ahead of second place (Latty), and her lowest score this year was 149.5 in Round 5. Her average is 204.7 - which would have placed her 6th overall this week (which she was anyway). Amazing.

  • Isabelle Shearer did everything she possibly could to try and lift her Firebirds teammates, playing on the GOAT Jhaniele. She had 3 deflections, 1 intercept, and 2 rebounds to score 99 points.

  • Courtney Bruce had another strong game this week, with 7 deflections, 3 intercepts to score 175.5 points.

  • Rookie Jessie Grenvold had another great game, with 4 intercepts and 2 deflections at critical times to score 117 points.

  • Despite spending some time on the bench, Helen Housby managed quite a respectable 170.5 points, bolstered by 6 super shots, 16 goal assists, 21 CPR and 2 deflections.

  • Hannah Petty came in 8th spot this week with her highest score so far of 192.5, despite not training all week due to illness (and apparently having a tactical vomit during the match). She had 31 feeds, 2 intercepts, a deflection and 3 pickups, with only 1 contact and 1 obstruction.

  • Jo Weston also had her best score this season with 198 points. She had 6 gains, 5 deflections, 2 intercepts, 2 rebounds and 2 pickups.

I’ve developed a Google Sheets document that lists each player and their scores by round. This will be updated after each round.

The first tab is the Overall Leaderboard, and will be sorted by total points. The second tab will be sorted by the most recent round (i.e. whoever scored the most points in the most recent round will be at the top).
