Player Scores: R5
Here we are with Round 5’s player scores!
For the first time this season, we have players from 5 different clubs in the top 5. Sarah Klau had an absolute ripper with 5 intercepts and 13 deflections to score the second-highest points of this season, only behind Ash Ervin’s Round 3 effort of 320.5 points.
Latty makes her second consecutive appearance in the top 5, moving from 4th last week to 2nd with 6 intercepts, 4 deflections and 4 rebounds.
Cara Koenen put out her best performance of the season with 56 goals and 6 rebounds.
Jhaniele joins the top 5 in her third game back, with 60 goals and even a deflection and a pickup!
Rounding out the top 5 this week is Maddie Hay - interestingly the first Giant to make the top 5 this season. She had 26 feeds, an intercept and 3 deflections despite being in a losing side.
Some interesting player score stats for Round 5:
If you have Mary Cholhok or Romelda Aiken-George in your side, this round would have been a good one to use the Perfect Game Booster, as they had 59 and 56 negative points respectively (points taken off their score for errors/missed shots)
Liz Watson had a round-high 44 feeds in the Lightning’s win over the Giants
Kiera Austin had a rare off game this week, with 5 missed goals, 3 intercepts thrown and 7 turnovers. Despite that, an intercept and 3 deflections resulted in a respectable score of 164.5 points that could have seen her in the top 5 without those errors
Klau had an amazing game, but it was a real team effort in defence from the GS down the court, with Nweke, Housby, Hadley, Smith, Lambden and Turner all getting at least one deflection each and 8 pickups between them
Jess Anstiss was an interesting choice as joint player of the match with Fowler, as according to our scoring system she only scored 102.5 points including the 30 for POM. In fact she was outscored by 6 of her teammates before the POM points
Despite fairly strong scores over the last 3 rounds, Kim Brown really struggled this week, scoring only 62.5 points. She finished with no intercepts, 1 deflection and 9 contacts
Monika ‘Otai had an accurate debut, with 6/6 goals in her 12 minutes
I’ve developed a Google Sheets document that lists each player and their scores by round. This will be updated after each round.
The first tab is the Overall Leaderboard, and will be sorted by total points. The second tab will be sorted by the most recent round (i.e. whoever scored the most points in the most recent round will be at the top).
